Opava vs Novy Jicin

Opava struck inside the opening minute. Jiří Šindelář's shot from the blue line was deflected home by Šimon Pavlík at 0:60, giving the home side a lead before the first shift had fully settled.

Nový Jičín had the best chance to equalise in the first period when Pohludka broke clean through on goal, only for Opava goalkeeper Hugo Haas to turn away his backhand attempt at 5:16. Haas was unbeatable through 40 minutes, making key saves on Viktor Berka's breakaway (29:40) and Daniel Capil's close-range bid (33:51).

Opava doubled the lead at 27:52 of the second period through Daniel Spratek. Ilja Kovalčík fed Šimon Pavlík on the right wing, and his pass across the crease was deflected in by Spratek on the doorstep. The same combination struck again at 36:02: Šindelář picked out Spratek with a long pass behind the Nový Jičín defence, and the forward slotted under the goaltender's blocker for his second of the night.

Nový Jičín gave themselves a lifeline at 49:39 when Viktor Konečný converted from close range on a brief power play, with assists from Grecmal and Pohludka, to make it 3–1.

But Opava regained control. With Nový Jičín pushing for a second goal and pulling Jakub Klimek for the extra skater at 56:29, Tomáš Rousek collected a pass from Tomáš Káňa, skated to the offensive blue line, and fired into the empty net at 57:12 — an insurance goal scored while Opava were themselves shorthanded.

Nový Jičín's failure to convert any of their first-period chances, particularly Pohludka's breakaway and Handl's slot opportunity at 12:57, allowed Opava to carry a 1–0 lead into the first intermission. Once Spratek scored twice in the middle frame, the visitors were chasing a three-goal deficit against a well-organised defence — a gap too wide to bridge in a pre-season opener.

• Hugo Haas (Opava) — Denied Nový Jičín on multiple high-danger chances, including a breakaway and a close-range tip, keeping a shutout until the 50th minute.
• Viktor Konečný (Nový Jičín) — Scored the visitors' only goal on the power play, giving his team brief hope early in the third period.

Opava's 4–1 scoreline undersells how thoroughly they controlled the middle stanza: both Spratek goals came within an eight-minute window (27:52–36:02) that effectively ended the contest. Nový Jičín generated their best looks in the first period but could not beat Haas from open play. The empty-net goal with 2:48 remaining gave the scoreboard a more dominant look than the balance of play, but Opava were deserved winners.

Opava picked up their first pre-season win after opening their schedule with losses to Poruba (2–6) and Šumperk (1–6). The Slezan side appear to be finding their rhythm with each friendly. For Nový Jičín, this was their pre-season debut — the Ďáblové struggled with match fitness and finishing in the opening two periods but showed signs of life in the third. Opava continue their pre-season preparations next; Nový Jičín face HC Ostrava on 20 August.

Opava's superior game rhythm — this was their third friendly against Nový Jičín's first — told the story. Spratek's double and Haas's composure in goal provided the platform for a controlled, professional pre-season win. Nový Jičín will take encouragement from their third-period response but have work to do on early-game sharpness.
