Salavat Ufa vs Lada

The first period ended goalless, with neither side able to break through despite early pressure. The deadlock lasted only 27 seconds into the second period.

20:27 — Dmitry Kugryshev opened the scoring on a feed from Artem Volkov, beating Ilya Konovalov to make it 0-1.

Lada then struck twice in quick succession. Andrei Altybarmakyan doubled the lead at 30:25 (assist: Ruslan Umerov), and Rasim Shakirov made it 0-3 on the power play at 32:00, with Altybarmakyan providing the assist.

Salavat finally replied at 34:19 when Maxim Kuznetsov finished a play set up by Devin Brosseau and Yaroslav Tsulygin to cut the deficit to 1-3.

But Lada restored the three-goal cushion before the break: Shakirov scored his second of the night on another power play at 38:35, sending the teams to the locker room at 1-4.

In the third period, Salavat mounted a comeback. Egor Suchkov scored at 51:50 (assist: Artyom Alexeev) to make it 2-4, and Alexander Zharovsky pulled the hosts within one at 57:12, assisted by Alexeev and Brosseau. With 2:48 on the clock, the Ufa faithful sensed an equaliser.

But Lada held firm. With Konovalov pulled for an extra attacker, Nikita Setdikov scored into the empty net at 58:52 to restore the two-goal cushion. Ivan Romanov added a sixth at 59:57, also into the empty net, to seal a comprehensive 6-3 victory.

Lada's four-goal second period — two of them on the power play — turned a competitive 0-0 game into a 4-1 blowout. The 95-second sequence of Altybarmakyan (30:25) and Shakirov (32:00, PP) stretched the lead from 1-0 to 3-0, effectively deciding the match. Salavat's penalty trouble proved costly: Lada converted two of their power-play opportunities in the middle frame.

Rasim Shakirov (Lada) — Two goals (one PP), the catalyst of Lada's second-period explosion. His power-play marker at 32:00 gave Lada full control. Named player of the match.

Andrei Altybarmakyan (Lada) — One goal and one assist, directly involved in two of the four second-period strikes.

Devin Brosseau (Salavat Ufa) — Two primary assists (Kuznetsov, Zharovsky), at the heart of Salavat's attempted third-period comeback. The Canadian import was Salavat's most dangerous offensive threat.

Ilya Konovalov (Salavat Ufa) — Faced 6 goals on 6 shots in 60 minutes. The stat line looks harsh, but Salavat's defensive breakdowns in the second period left him exposed repeatedly.

Lada scored four goals in a single period (the 2nd), three of them within an 8-minute window. Salavat conceded twice on the power play in that frame — a statistic that will concern head coach Viktor Kozlov in pre-season. Salavat generated a credible third-period push (2 goals in 5 minutes), but the damage from the second period was unrecoverable. Two empty-net goals in the final 70 seconds inflated the final margin.

This was the opening match of the four-team Fonbet Cup of the Republic of Bashkortostan (17–20 August), hosted at Ufa-Arena. Lada take maximum points from their first fixture. Salavat next face Amur on 20 August, while Lada meet Barys on 20 August before the tournament concludes. For Salavat, the defensive structure — particularly on the penalty kill — needs sharpening before the KHL season begins in September.

Lada's clinical second period was the difference between two teams at different stages of pre-season preparation. Salavat's third-period fightback showed character, but a 4-goal deficit against a disciplined Lada side was too large a mountain to climb. Shakirov's double made him the standout performer in a game that swung decisively in the middle frame.
