Vita Hästen killed all seven AIK powerplays — a genuine positive for a side that spent most of the night defending — though AIK's failure to capitalise on a two-minute 5-on-3 will concern Tuurala. The clean sheet was AIK's third in three pre-season openers stretching back to 2024 (the club has now won 18-0 across those three fixtures).

For AIK, a controlled start to a crucial season. Tuurala's first match in charge delivered the win and the clean sheet, with new signings Vesel and Olli Vainio (who drew the primary assist on the opener) integrating smoothly. The HockeyAllsvenskan season does not begin until 18 September against MoDo in the Avicii Arena, giving Tuurala six more friendlies to refine his system. For Vita Hästen, the defeat was expected — they played in HockeyEttan last season while AIK operates two tiers higher — but the penalty-kill performance and Fahlström's goaltending offered genuine encouragement. Their next pre-season match is against Lindlöven on 26 August.

A textbook pre-season opener: businesslike, dominant in stretches and comfortably won without hitting top gear. Vesel looks like the offensive catalyst AIK needed, and the clean sheet — despite a blunt powerplay — suggests the structure under Tuurala is already taking shape. Vita Hästen will take more from this defeat than the scoreline suggests.
