Spisska Nova Ves vs Tychy

The game opened at a breathless pace. Jämsen put Tychy ahead just 46 seconds in (Kerkkänen, Komorski), but Skalos equalised 29 seconds later at 1:15. Pociecha restored Tychy's lead at 9:39 (Kerkkänen) to make it 1-2 after the first period.

The second period passed without a goal — both goaltenders held firm through 20 scoreless minutes.

The third period exploded. Hodas tied the game shorthanded at 44:34 before Knuutinen put Tychy back ahead shorthanded at 47:36. Hodas struck again at 53:17 (Džugan) to make it 3-3, but Tańczyk replied 20 seconds later at 53:37 (Janik) to restore Tychy's lead at 3-4.

With Tychy's Kiełbicki in the penalty box, Martel scored on the power play at 56:40 (Hodas). Then, with Gościński off for slashing, Martel struck again on the power play at 57:51 — two goals in 71 seconds completing the 5-4 turnaround.

Tychy's discipline crumbled at the worst possible moment. Kiełbicki's tripping penalty at 55:29 and Gościński's slashing call at 56:42 gave Spišská Nová Ves a 5-on-3 advantage for 13 seconds and overlapping power plays for the final 3:11 of regulation. Martel capitalised on both, the second a one-timer from Hodas that beat Chabior glove-side.

Chabior (Tychy) — Conceded all five goals but faced sustained third-period pressure as Tychy took 6 PIM in the final 10 minutes.

The 1-2 first period reflected an open start with three goals inside 10 minutes. The scoreless second period suggested tactical adjustments. The third period's 4-2 goal split was shaped entirely by special teams: Spišská scored shorthanded (Hodas, 44:34) and on two power plays (Martel x2), while Tychy managed one shorthanded goal (Knuutinen, 47:36) but couldn't convert with the man advantage.

This was Spišská Nová Ves' third pre-season fixture as they prepare for the 2026/27 Tipos Extraliga season. Tychy — reigning Polish champions after winning the 2025/26 Tauron Hokej Liga — now have a 1-3 pre-season record (lost 1-3 to AZ Havířov, lost 2-1 to HC Prešov, lost 5-4 to Spišská Nová Ves). Tychy next face HC Frýdek-Místek at home on 25 August, then HK Nitra away on 27 August.

A pre-season game that delivered far more drama than a typical August friendly. Tychy's inability to stay out of the box in the closing minutes undid a largely disciplined performance, while Spišská Nová Ves showed character and power-play efficiency in flipping a 3-4 deficit to 5-4 in just over a minute. The speed of the third-period goal flurry — six goals in 13:17 — suggested both teams have sharpened attacking instincts but have defensive work to do before their league campaigns begin.
