Basel vs Arosa

Arosa stunned the home side with two goals inside the first three minutes. Justin Gull opened the scoring at 02:08, converting a feed from Sören Aebi. Just 30 seconds later, Lenn Zehnder doubled the lead off assists from Cyril Jack Pont and Niklas Wegmüller.

Basel pulled one back at 04:40 through Dario Kummer, set up by Gianluca Barbei and Jamie Schaub, trimming the deficit to 2–1. But Arosa reasserted control late in the period: Maxime Orlov scored his first of the afternoon at 18:38 (assists from Nicolas Yanick Warmbrodt and Tomas Vlcek) to make it 3–1 after 20 minutes.

Arosa extended the lead early in the second period. Orlov struck again at 27:18, with Prada Jeremy Jabola providing the assist, pushing the score to 4–1. Basel responded on the power play at 29:01 — Marcell Revesz finished from Sandro Brügger's pass to cut the gap to 4–2. That was as close as Basel would get.

The third period belonged to Arosa once more. Orlov completed his hat-trick at 43:35, assisted by Darren Boss and Tomas Vlcek, sealing the 5–2 final score.

Arosa's lightning start. Scoring twice in the opening 2:38 forced Basel onto the back foot immediately. Even after Kummer's reply, Arosa's third goal late in the first period restored a two-goal cushion that Basel never seriously threatened thereafter.

Basel outshot Arosa 37–31, yet trailed from the third minute onwards and never led. The shot count suggests territorial control for the home side, but Arosa's finishing told a different story: five goals from 31 shots (16.1% conversion) against Basel's two from 37 (5.4%). Basel's power play went 1-for-4 (25%), while Arosa's went 0-for-3, though the visitors did not need the extra man. Arosa's perfect penalty kill kept Basel from building real momentum after the Revesz goal.

This was a preseason exhibition fixture for both Swiss clubs ahead of the 2026–27 season. Arosa bounced back from a 6–2 loss to HC Davos on 14 August, improving to 1–1 in exhibition play. Basel's preseason continues with further friendlies before the start of the regular season.

Arosa's clinical finishing — led by Orlov's hat-trick — proved decisive against a Basel side that controlled stretches of play but lacked edge in the final third. For a preseason friendly, the intensity and early pace were notable.
