Tabor vs Dresdner Eislowen

Tábor needed seven minutes to find their range. Robin Všetečka drove toward the Dresdner net and saw his shot spill loose to the right, where Lukáš Pech swept the puck home for 1-0 at 7:04.

Five minutes later, the lead doubled. Matěj Zadražil fed Matyáš Cícha from the left boards, and Cícha's wrist shot from the left circle beat Janick Schwendener cleanly at 12:14 — 2-0.

The floodgates opened late in the period. Karel Plášil converted from Cícha's feed at 16:04 to make it 3-0, and Pech struck again at 18:15, tapping in after another Všetečka drive, to send the hosts to the first intermission up 4-0.

Dresdner responded after the break. Coach Bohuslav Šubr — a Tábor native facing his hometown club — pulled Schwendener in favour of Marvin Berbner at the start of the second period. The move steadied the visitors, and Ryan MacKinnon halved the deficit on the power play at 29:07, finishing from a Tylor Spink feed to make it 4-1.

But any hope of a fightback faded early in the third. Dresdner's discipline collapsed: Sebastian Gorčík took two minor penalties and Lukas Buschbeck another, handing Tábor a 5-on-3 advantage. Jungwirth tapped home from Pech at 49:20 on the man advantage, and Tomáš Mertl buried the second power-play goal at 55:07 — set up by Jakub Valský and Radek Prokeš — to complete the 6-1 rout.

The match was decided before the first intermission. Tábor's four-goal blitz across 11 minutes left Dresdner chasing a four-goal deficit they never looked likely to overhaul, even with MacKinnon's second-period PP strike. The 4-8 penalty count and two power-play goals against told the story of a German side that lost its composure as the game wore on.

• Lukáš Pech (Tábor) — Player of the Match. Two goals (7', 19'), two primary assists (12', 50'), and the driving force behind Tábor's first-period demolition. Instrumental in all four opening-period goals.
• Matyáš Cícha (Tábor). One goal and one assist from the blue line, including the critical 2-0 strike that doubled the lead before the period was half over.
• Ryan MacKinnon (Dresdner Eislöwen). The lone bright spot for the visitors — his PP goal at 29:07 was the only puck to beat Tábor's Matyáš Mařík.
• Matyáš Mařík (Tábor). Solid when called upon, particularly in the second period when Dresdner pushed hardest after the goaltending change.

Penalty differential (4-8 in Tábor's favour) and the power-play conversion rate (2-for-8 for Tábor, 1-for-4 for Dresdner) capture the game's flow better than any possession stat. Tábor did their damage early at even strength — three of the four first-period goals came at 5-on-5. The second period was the only competitive stretch, with Dresdner outshooting and outplaying Tábor after the goaltending switch, but the damage was done. The 2-1 PP-goal margin in the third period merely sealed a result already settled in the opening 20 minutes.

For Tábor, this was their first home friendly and second pre-season win after a shootout victory over Slavia Praha on 18 August. They host HC Stadion Litoměřice on 25 August (18:00 local) before facing Slavia Praha again on 3 September as preparations for the 2026-27 Czech second-tier season continue.

For Dresdner Eislöwen — who beat Austrian side EC VSV 3-0 on 21 August — this was a sobering step up in opponent quality. They face fellow Czech side Liberec on 28 August (TBC) before a 4 September test at Lausitzer Füchse in Weißwasser, closing out a pre-season schedule built around varied challenges.

A pre-season mismatch that exposed the gulf in preparation rhythm between two clubs at different stages of their build-up. Tábor, further into their friendly schedule, were sharper, hungrier and ruthlessly clinical in the first period. Dresdner — carrying the disruption of a relegation summer — never recovered from the early blitz. The margin accurately reflected the gap on the day.
