As confirmed by GB7s Director of Rugby Ciaran Beattie, both the men's and women's GB Sevens programmes failed to finish in the top eight and will drop out of the top-tier HSBC SVNS Series for the 2026-27 season, competing instead in HSBC SVNS 2.

"We were really disappointed for everyone involved to not finish in the top eight," Beattie told Scottish Rugby. "Both teams haven't been good enough to cross the line over the season ultimately and things haven't gone our way at times."

Argentina finished the tournament in 9th place. Great Britain's women will next be in action at the Rugby Europe event in Hamburg at the end of June 2026.

Argentina were the sharper side from the first whistle, and their five-try haul in a 14-minute match told the story. Great Britain showed fight — particularly in a second-half spell that cut the gap to five points — but could not sustain the momentum. The defeat confirmed a difficult season end for the GB programme, who must now rebuild in the second tier.
