England’s third try in a seven-minute burst — Gorleku's second at 29 minutes — killed any USA hopes of staying in touch. Nick Lilley drove over within five minutes of the restart (47-14, Keylock converting for 49-14) and the floodgates opened. USA hooker Dane Mitchell completed a hat-trick of tries (50th, 60th, 68th minutes) with Holder converting two, and Holder himself scored an opportunistic try on 54 minutes, making it 49-28.

But England had too much firepower off the bench. Jonny Weimann (63rd), Connor Treacey (72nd) and Tyler Offiah (78th) all crossed, Keylock converting Treacey’s effort for a 63-40 lead. Offiah’s try went unconverted, making the final score 68-40.
