Egypt outside hitter Mariam Metwally told the Kenya Volleyball Federation ahead of the likely meeting: "We are ready for you. It was a good match. We enjoyed it and now our focus is on Tunisia. We have prepared well and we are ready to face them."

The quarter-final presents a significant step-up in difficulty for Tunisia after facing a Mali side ranked well below them. The winner advances to the semi-finals and moves one step closer to the LA28 Olympic berth that awaits the champion.
