From the opening whistle, the Americans asserted their dominance with a well-rounded game featuring sharp serving, efficient attacking, and relentless blocking. The Czechs, who entered the tournament as one of the pleasant surprises of the season sitting eighth in the standings with three wins, struggled to find answers against a deep and experienced USA side featuring six Olympians on the Week 2 roster.

The first set set the tone. USA built an early lead behind strong serving from setter Micha Hancock and punishing swings from opposite Jordan Thompson. Czechia tried to claw back into the set but never got closer than three points as Thompson and Dana Rettke combined for critical points down the stretch to close it out 25–17.

The second set was a clinic. The Americans jumped out to a commanding lead and never looked back, cruising to a 25–12 victory. USA's block — anchored by Rettke and Brionne Butler — neutralised the Czech attack, while outside hitters Avery Skinner and Kathryn Plummer scored freely from the pins.

Czechia showed more fight in the third set, staying level through the early exchanges. But USA pulled away midway through the set behind a run of service pressure from Hancock and some heavy swings from Thompson. The Americans closed it out 25–16 to complete the sweep in just over 75 minutes.

Jordan Thompson led all scorers with a match-high contribution, showcasing the form that made her a two-time Olympian. Dana Rettke was a force at the net on both offence and defence, while Micha Hancock's service pressure and set distribution kept the Czech defence off balance all match.

Setter Jenna Gray saw minutes in relief, and outside hitter Avery Skinner continued her strong tournament with efficient attacking from the left side.

For Czech Republic, middle blocker Magdalena Bukovská and outside hitter Michaela Mlejnková tried to spark the offence, but the Czechs struggled to establish any consistency against USA's defensive pressure.

USA's game plan was simple but ruthlessly effective: serve tough to take Czechia out of system, then use the size advantage at the net to control the middle. The Americans' block timing was exceptional, repeatedly stuffing Czech attempts and forcing errors.

Offensively, USA spread the attack evenly across the net, making it difficult for the Czech block to set up. Thompson was the primary outlet in transition, while Rettke and Butler provided efficient quick-ball options in the middle.

Coming into this match, the United States sat fourth in the VNL standings with four wins and 11 points from their first five matches, after posting a 3–1 record in Week 1 in Quebec City. The Czech Republic entered Week 2 in eighth place with three wins and nine points — already exceeding expectations as one of the breakthrough teams of the 2026 campaign.

With the win, USA improved to 5–1 in the tournament, staying in touch with the top of a crowded leaderboard. The victory also earned valuable World Ranking points for the Americans.

The Pasig leg continues to be a stern test for both sides. USA faces Italy and Serbia in their remaining Week 2 fixtures, while Czechia takes on Poland and Japan as they battle to hold their place inside the top eight.

The result extended USA's dominance in the head-to-head series. The teams have now met five times since 2010, with the Americans winning four of those encounters. Czech Republic's only victory came in a dramatic five-set upset back in June 2025 during last year's Nations League.
