Whatever head coach Roberto Piazza said in the huddle worked. Brazil came out for the third set with renewed intensity. Cachopa's setting sharpened, Lucarelli and Darlan found their range, and the blocking unit — led by Flávio — shut down Iran's primary attack. Brazil raced to a 14-8 lead and never looked back. The highlight was a remarkable chase-down dig from libero Maique that ignited a stunning rally, ending with Darlan pounding the ball through the Iranian block. The set finished 25-15, the most lopsided of the night.

Iran refused to fold. The fourth set was a rollercoaster — the lead changed hands repeatedly. Iran stretched ahead 18-14 midway through, powered by Eisa and Morteza, but Brazil clawed back. Adriano delivered an ace to level at 20-20, and the home crowd roared.

The match reached its crescendo at 23-23. A 29-shot rally — the longest of the night — saw both teams trade incredible saves. Darlan rose high, attacked, the ball stayed alive in a joust at the net, and finally Darlan smashed it down for 24-23. On match point, Iran challenged a net touch call, but the decision stood, and Brazil closed it out 25-23 to seal the 3-1 victory.

The two sides have now met 20 times in major competitions, with Brazil extending their dominant head-to-head record to 17 wins against Iran's three. The rivalry, dating back to 2011, has been overwhelmingly one-sided in recent years — Brazil have not lost to Iran since 2018.

Brazil face Belgium on Friday, while Iran take on Bulgaria later this week as Week 1 action continues in Brasília.
