For Bulgaria, Aleksandar Nikolov once again carried the bulk of the offensive responsibility. The 22-year-old outside, who sits among the top scorers in the entire VNL after Week 1, finished with another strong individual performance — but lacked sufficient support from his teammates against a well-drilled Serbian block.

With the win, Serbia moved to 3-1 in the VNL standings, tallying 9 points from their four matches in Brasilia. Their only blemish came at the hands of tournament frontrunners Brazil, who swept them 3-0 on Saturday. Serbia's wins over Argentina, Belgium, and now Bulgaria demonstrated their consistency across the week.

Bulgaria finished Week 1 at 2-2 with 6 points. After a promising start that included wins over Iran and Argentina, the Lions could not sustain their momentum against the higher-ranked Serbian side in their final match of the Brasilia stop.

Both sides will now prepare for Week 2 of the VNL, with the competition moving to new host cities. Serbia will look to build on their strong start as they target a place in the VNL Finals, while Bulgaria will aim to regain their early-week form and climb the standings.

For Serbia, the sweep of Bulgaria provides a timely confidence boost after the defeat to Brazil. Head coach Igor Kolaković will be pleased with how his side regrouped, particularly the way they managed critical moments in each set against a stubborn Bulgarian outfit.
