Los Angeles Dodgers vs Milwaukee Brewers

Logan Henderson pitched a career-high seven innings and Jake Bauers tied a career high with four hits as the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 6–2 on Sunday night at Dodger Stadium, winning the four-game series 3-1 and clinching the season series 4-3.

The Brewers struck first in the top of the second. Jackson Chourio singled, Jake Bauers walked and Andrew Vaughn singled to load the bases with two out. Luis Lara reached on a fielder's choice that brought Chourio home — a run that proved to be the start of a relentless Milwaukee attack against Dodgers ace Tarik Skubal.

Max Muncy answered with a solo home run (his 24th of the season) off Henderson in the bottom of the fourth to level the game at 1-1. But the tie lasted only one inning. In the top of the fifth, Chourio singled, stole second and scored on Bauers' RBI single to right, putting Milwaukee ahead 2-1.

The decisive blow came in the seventh. After Skubal departed following six solid innings (7 strikeouts, 2 runs), the Brewers ambushed the Dodgers bullpen. Chourio walked, Bauers greeted reliever Alex Vesia with an RBI double to left, and Vaughn followed with a run-scoring single. The lead ballooned to 4-1.

Milwaukee added two more in the ninth on a fielder's choice by David Hamilton that became a two-run play when the Dodgers committed a costly error. Andy Pages hit a solo homer (his 21st) in the bottom of the ninth off DL Hall, but it was too little, too late.

The top of the seventh inning swung the game decisively. Skubal had matched Henderson pitch for pitch through six, exiting with a 2-1 deficit that felt recoverable. But the Brewers' first two batters against the Dodgers bullpen — Chourio's walk and Bauers' double — flipped the game. Vaughn's single added insurance, and suddenly a tight 2-1 game became 4-1. The Dodgers never recovered.

6 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 7 K, 109 pitches. An uneven final line belied a quality start: Skubal matched Henderson until the Brewers scratched across runs on a fielder's choice and a two-out single.

Max Muncy (LAD) — 1-for-3, HR (24), RBI, K
His solo homer in the fourth briefly tied the game and was one of only three hits Henderson allowed.

The box score tells a story of two contrasting pitching staffs. Henderson needed only 93 pitches to cover seven innings, while the Dodgers bullpen required 62 pitches across three frames and was tagged for four runs (two earned). Milwaukee's 11 hits were spread across seven different batters, with no single Dodger pitcher able to suppress the lineup twice. The Dodgers' two errors — including the costly ninth-inning miscue — turned a 4-1 game into a 6-1 blowout.

The Brewers (77-48) improved to an MLB-best record and won the season series against the Dodgers 4-3. That head-to-head edge could prove decisive in the race for a top-two NL seed and the accompanying first-round bye, since the two teams may finish tied in the standings.

The Dodgers (74-51) dropped two games back in the loss column and lost the season-series tiebreaker after a series that featured Jacob Misiorowski's dominant start in Saturday's 4-1 win and Henderson's gem on Sunday.

Henderson outpitched Skubal in a matchup that doubled as a postseason preview and a front-office vindication. Milwaukee's refusal to trade the 24-year-old paid off in the biggest start of his career, and the Brewers now control the tiebreaker over a Dodgers team that will need to find answers for its bullpen if these two meet again in October.
