Colorado Rockies vs Los Angeles Dodgers

Ohtani put the Dodgers ahead in the first inning, sending a solo shot (30) off Ryan Feltner for a 1-0 lead. The Rockies answered immediately in the bottom half — Jake McCarthy doubled and scored on Cole Carrigg's RBI double to level the game at 1-1.

The Dodgers seized control in the middle innings. Tommy Edman doubled to open the third and scored on Kyle Tucker's RBI double. Teoscar Hernández followed with a triple and scored on Freddie Freeman's sacrifice fly, making it 3-1.

Colorado pulled even in the bottom of the third. Willi Castro crushed a solo homer (14), and TJ Rumfield doubled before Connor Norby drove him in with a double of his own — 3-3.

Los Angeles broke it open in the fourth with a three-run outburst. Freeman doubled in Edman, Max Muncy added a sacrifice fly, and Hernández doubled home another run to push the lead to 6-3.

Castro answered with an RBI single in the fifth — his third RBI of the night — cutting the deficit to 6-4. But Ohtani delivered again in the sixth, plating a run on a groundout to make it 7-4.

The Rockies kept chipping. McCarthy scored on a passed ball in the eighth (7-5), and Zac Veen's pinch-hit RBI single in the ninth brought the tying run to the plate. But Scott induced a groundout from Brett Sullivan to end it — 7-6 final.

The fourth inning proved decisive. With the game tied 3-3, the Dodgers strung together three runs on four hits, capitalising on Feltner's inability to finish innings. Feltner allowed seven earned runs over five frames — a 12.60 ERA on the night — and the Dodgers never trailed again.

Willi Castro (COL) — Player of the Match. 2-for-3 with a home run, a walk, three runs scored, and two RBI. Reached base four times and was the engine of Colorado's offence from the No. 3 spot.

Shohei Ohtani (LAD) — 1-for-5, but that one hit was his 30th home run. Added a second RBI on a groundout. Ohtani has now hit 30+ homers in all three seasons since joining the Dodgers (2024: 44, 2025: 40, 2026: 30).

Teoscar Hernández (LAD) — 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, an RBI and two runs scored from the No. 8 spot. His extra-base hits in the third and fourth innings were critical to the Dodgers' rally.

Freddie Freeman (LAD) — 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, a stolen base and two RBI. Extended his on-base streak while driving in key insurance runs.

Eric Lauer (LAD) — Winning pitcher (8-6). 5.0 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 1 BB, 6 K. Got the win despite Colorado scoring in three of his five innings.

The line stats show both teams collected 10 hits apiece, but the Dodgers' 10 hits produced seven runs while Colorado's 10 hits yielded six — explained largely by LA's 3-for-4 performance with runners in scoring position in the pivotal fourth inning. The Dodgers drew three walks to Colorado's three, but Los Angeles struck out only five times to Colorado's 11, suggesting the Rockies left runners on base (14 LOB total) while the Dodgers capitalized when it mattered. Colorado's two defensive errors (Norby, Fulford) extended innings; neither error directly scored, but both added to Feltner's pitch count in his shortened outing.

The Dodgers improve to 76-51 and maintain their hold on first place in the NL West. They have won two of the first three games in this four-game set at Coors Field. The Rockies fall to 50-76, firmly in fifth place in the division. Both teams conclude the series on Wednesday before the Dodgers head home and Colorado hits the road.

A flawed but effective win for Los Angeles — Lauer wasn't sharp and the bullpen made it interesting, but the offence did enough early and Tanner Scott closed when it mattered. Colorado showed fight but couldn't overcome Feltner's early damage in a game that felt closer than the box score suggests.
