Siheung Citizen vs Vietnam

Vietnam needed just two minutes to break the deadlock. Viet Cuong picked up possession and curled a right-footed finish into the top corner, giving the visitors a flying start despite heavy rain that affected the opening minutes.

Midfielder Nguyen Hai Long took control of the first half. He doubled the lead in the 31st minute with a composed finish, then struck again in the 39th minute after Viet Cuong turned provider, sending Hai Long through to complete his brace. Kim Sang Sik replaced the entire outfield for the second half, introducing the much-discussed naturalised trio of Nguyen Xuan Son, Do Hoang Hen and Nguyen Tai Loc — the first time Vietnam had deployed three naturalised players together in a competitive setting.

The impact was immediate. Do Hoang Hen scored from inside the area in the 48th minute to make it 4-0, then added his second four minutes later after Nguyen Xuan Son burst through the Siheung defence and delivered a precise assist.

Dinh Bac completed the scoring in the 83rd minute, sprinting beyond his marker before finishing calmly to round off a 6-0 victory.

The structural shift at half-time changed the dynamic of the match. Vietnam's first-half XI had already established control through slick short-passing combinations, but the introduction of Xuan Son, Hoang Hen and Tai Loc added a different dimension. The physicality and direct running of the naturalised group — particularly Xuan Son's work on the wing — created space that had not been there before, and Hoang Hen's two quickfire goals effectively ended any remote possibility of a Siheung response.

Nguyen Xuan Son — While he did not score, the naturalised forward's assist for Hoang Hen's second goal showcased the pace and directness he brings. His presence pulled Siheung defenders out of shape.

Viet Cuong — A goal and an assist inside the first 39 minutes. His curling opener set the tone.

Vietnam's six goals came from four different scorers, reflecting a more varied attacking approach than in previous campaigns. The first-half XI (all domestic players) scored three times through intricate build-up play; the second-half XI (with three naturalised players) added three more through quicker transitions and individual physical superiority. This was the first of three scheduled friendlies during Vietnam's training camp in Incheon, South Korea. The itinerary is deliberately graded in difficulty: Siheung Citizen (K3 League) on 5 July, Yongin FC (K League 2) on 8 July, and Gangwon FC (K League 1) to conclude the camp. Each step up in opposition will test Vietnam's defensive organisation and transition play more rigorously.

For Kim Sang Sik, the match achieved its purpose. Every outfield player received 45 minutes of game time, and the naturalised trio's integration passed a first, low-pressure test. The real assessments begin against Yongin and Gangwon.
