Auda vs FCSB

Having already stunned FCSB 3-2 in Bucharest a week earlier — Auda's Kader Kone scored a 94th-minute winner in the first leg on 23 July — the Latvian side needed no invitation to seize control early in Riga.

The first half was a tense, scrappy affair. Ariel Arroyo (33') and Joyskim Dawa (34') traded yellow cards for late tackles, and clear chances were at a premium until first-half stoppage time. FCSB's tactical reshuffle at half-time briefly worked — João Paulo's header in the 58th minute brought the aggregate score to 4-3 and swung momentum. Achim's side had a foothold. But Auda's response was immediate and decisive: Diedhiou's 67th-minute strike, his second of the night and fourth of the tie across two legs, extinguished the comeback before it began and left FCSB needing two goals they never looked capable of scoring.

João Paulo (FCSB) — Introduced at half-time, scored the equaliser within 13 minutes and looked FCSB's only genuine threat. A brief bright spot in an otherwise grim evening.

Tin Hrvoj (Auda) — The Croatian right-back scored a stoppage-time fourth and was solid defensively all night.

The 3,618 inside Skonto Stadium witnessed Auda score four goals from what the match flow suggests was a clinical xG performance — the home side may not have dominated possession in long spells, but every incisive attack carried weight. The aggregate scoreline of 7-3 is unambiguous: across 180 minutes, Auda outscored a side with vastly greater European pedigree by four goals. The first-leg data shows Auda held just 45% possession in Bucharest but registered 12 shots; they replicated that efficiency on home soil. FCSB's 58th-minute equaliser was their only sustained spell of control.

Auda progress to the UEFA Conference League third qualifying round with an aggregate 7-3 victory, the biggest European result in the club's short history. Founded in 2016 and promoted to the Latvian Virsliga only in 2022, Auda are writing an extraordinary continental chapter. FCSB — the 1986 European champions — exit at the second qualifying round for the second consecutive season, a result that will intensify scrutiny on manager M. Achim.
